Christmas 2014 at Acorn Lane

I welcomed our green Christmas this year in a flurry, it came magically as it always does,

and was gone before I could savour it's special gifts...the lingering feelings of gratitude and goodness it stirs in all of us....the glow candles have this time of year, more special than any other....the warm embrace my home extends to family and friends...I always feel like I missed it, somehow....caught up in all the to do things I think so important...

I always want to have another celebration.....just a little bit longer....

I don't add much decorations, just small touches of Christmas to what is always there...

Double chocolate cupcakes with cream cheese frosting add a festive touch to the garden room...

Festive china is pulled out, and heirloom glass ornaments of sheep and deer are added to glass cloches....amaryllis and frosty fern fill cachepots which are left out all year...

The front entrance is given a festive touch with fresh greens and a treasured Father Christmas collectible....

In the kitchen, existing ivy topiaries, are dressed up with more ornaments and moss and twig stars...

Always, chestnuts, fresh fruit and pomegranates have been a part of my heritage at Christmastime...

Trying to keep things simple and natural....

Hemlock branches from our woods were added to an existing arrangement of sticks and moss....the gilded stag is a new addition to my holiday decor....
